Public Sector Digital Awards, National Address Gazetteer Database, GeoPlace

GeoPlace is one of two winners in the Best Project Delivery category at the 2011 UK Public Sector Digital Awards for the development and delivery of the National Address Gazetteer Database. GeoPlace was presented the award alongside Surrey County Council for their separate e-safeguarding project. The award was presented by Joe Harley, CBE, CIO, for the UK Government and CIO and Director General for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Gary Flood PublicTechnology.net editor and one of the judges said: “The judges were impressed by the sheer size of the challenge faced, which involved synchronising more than 150million records from 5 primary data feeds.”

GeoPlace is a public sector limited liability partnership between the Local Government Association and Ordnance Survey. The National Address Gazetteer Database provides a definitive source of publicly owned spatial address data – comprising data from local authorities, Ordnance Survey, the Valuation Office and Royal Mail.
